VEAZIE – Edgar C. Goldsmith, 91, passed away peacefully Sept. 6, 2009, at his home. He was born May 19, 1918, in Winthrop, Mass., the son of Louis and Daisy (Kupsenel) Goldsmith. Edgar joined the U.S. Navy at a young age and served in the Philippines during World War II, in a Seabee unit. During the war, he married Hazel Louise Tracey of Roxbury, Mass., in 1943 and raised two sons, Barry and David. Edgar was a man of many passions. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Barry Goldsmith and Susan of North Yarmouth, and David Goldsmith and Karen of Bangor; his brother and his wife, Alan Goldsmith and Lucille of Alabama; five grandchildren, Jason Goldsmith and his wife, Hae Jung Moon, Eric Goldsmith, Amanda Goldsmith and her fiancee, Steven Richard, and Joshua and Haley Goldsmith; and one great-grandson, Nathan Edgar Goldsmith, who he most recently had the pleasure of meeting for the first time.
