ORONO, Maine — Jocelyn Mitchell scored on a breakaway 3:15 into overtime to lift the University of Maine to a 3-2 field hockey victory over Yale Friday.
Maine (3-1) built a 2-0 lead after Maire Dineen scored off a Lelia Sacre corner at 2:49 in the first and Kelly Newton scored with an assist from Stephanie Gardiner 37 seconds into the second.
Dinah Landshut and Maddy Sharp scored goals within a minute of each other in the second half to tie it for 1-2 Yale. Katie Cantore had both assists.
Brittany Fleck saved six of 12 shots for the Black Bears. Katie Boiling and Charlotte Goins combined for six saves on 19 shots for Yale.
