BLUE HILL – Gwendola Mae Ockels, 62, died Sept. 19, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 12, 1947, in Greenbush, daughter of Ivory G. and Martha Elizabeth Bailey. She was a member of the Rebekah’s of Blue Hill and the Bible study at First Baptist Church. Gwendola worked as a certified nurse’s aide, doing private duty. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and loved supporting local sporting events. Gwendola is survived by Donald L. Ockels; son, Matthew Ockels of Colorado; daughter, Faye Allen and husband, David, of Sedgwick; sisters, Diane Bailey of Connecticut and Lisha Snigier of Delaware; and two grandchildren, Joshua Allen and Samuel Allen. She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Julie Ann Ockels; brother, Roger Bailey; and a sister, Fern Gagnon. Friends are invited to call 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at First Baptist Church, Blue Hill, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with Pastors Stephen and Sheila Heneise officiating.
