ST. ALBANS – Blaine Alden Neal, 78, passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2009, with his wife, Dot; family and friends by his side. He was born Aug. 17, 1931, in St. Albans, a son of Albion and Edith (Leavitt) Neal. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Blaine was a well-known mechanic and welder having operated his own garage for many years. He also worked at Butler’s Garage, Weeks and Sons Well Drilling and for the town of St. Albans. He retired from Irving Tanning, Hartland. He was a talented welder, mechanic and musician. An avid sportsman, he especially loved fishing. He had the ability to make something out of nothing – a definite “McGyver,” and will be missed by all who knew him. Blaine was a member of the Corinna Post American Legion and Newport Post No. 11191 VFW, Newport. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lewis Neal and Jim Edwards; and two sisters, Barbara Estes and Shirley Ryder. He will be remembered and loved by his family left behind: wife, Dot Neal; children, Wanda and Dennis Goodrow, Johnnie and Camellia Neal, Bonnie and Kenneth Moreau, and Douglas Neal and Sandra Graves; stepchildren, Sandy and Mike Larrabee; grandchildren, Samantha Neal, Shawna Taleo, Amanda Morris, Lisa and Jessica Hyson, Matthew and Nathan Goodrow, Jessica Charrier, Steven Shaw Jr., Paul and Megan Moulton, Allen, Shanon and Jazmyn Wing; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, and sisters, Darrell and Ethel Neal, Wayne and Lorraine Neal, Robert Neal, Carroll Neal, Dorothy Bates and special friend, Joe Bates, Laura Smith and Mary Almeda Page; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ben, Diane, Ginny and Little Ben. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday with Dean Neal officiating.
