PUSHAW LAKE and Florida – David H. Arnold died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at a Bangor hospital with his loving wife of 54 years, Christine, at his side. He was born Dec. 8, 1935, in Hartford, Conn., to Enos and Sophie (Knazewicz) Arnold. David graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. He began his 20 year career as an air traffic controller before becoming an air traffic control instructor in Oklahoma City. He retired in 1996. Since that time, he had enjoyed traveling with Christine at his side. They spent winters in Florida and summers in Maine together. Papa loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed hunting, fishing, soaking up the sun, and monitoring the Weather Channel. David was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: son, Jonathan and his wife, Gabrielle, daughter, Kristen and her partner, Rebecca, daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Stephen, and daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Daniel; 11 grandchildren, Adam, Zachary, Morgan, Scott David, Jacob, Rhiannon, Haley, Bailey, Adrienne, Walker and Sadie; two great-grandchildren, Jase and Connor; his brother, Enos and wife; sister, Kathleen and husband; and brothers-in-law, Walter, Donald and his wife, and Rodney and his wife; many nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A reception and toast will be after at Pushaw Lake Campground. Interment will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at N.H. Veterans Cemetery, Boscowen, N.H.
