BLAINE – Ella Anna Barrett Harvath died Sept. 21, 2009, shortly before midnight at her son, Rickie Jay’s residence. She was born the first day of spring in the year 1924 to Jack Barrett of Robinson and Pauline Hussey of Blaine; their only child. Ella was Daddy’s little girl and Mother’s daughter. Ella grew and married and had two children of her own, Rickie Jay and Gail Ann, whom she loved dearly and wrote many poems about, “A child is an angel” was her favorite and best known. Her children grown, Ella returned to her former job with New England Telephone Co., later to be known as Verizon and completed a distinguished career, retiring with regret. Despite her declining mobility brought on by misfortune, she laughed, teased and kept Rickie busy feeding the wood stove she so enjoyed in the winter, and did her part by feeding their pet chipmunks peanuts in the garden during fair weather. Ella loved to play the piano each day and watch her favorite “I Love Lucy” shows by night. As Rickie writes the words, tears begin to envelop his eyes. The parting manifesting quite suddenly throughout the past 48 hours has been devastating. Oh Mother! Those treasured thoughts of you! Apart from her children, Ella Anna is survived by one grandson, Eric; six great-grandchildren; and several cousins. Ella Anna “Mother” will be remembered with wonderful happiness. A life devoted to others, R.I.P. You did all you could! A private graveside service will be observed, as was she. Online condolences may be expressed at www.dunnfuneral.com.
