PORTLAND, Maine — A former school teacher charged in with unlawful sexual touching of a student two years ago is now facing federal charges in Maine.
U.S. Attorney Paula Silsby said Friday that 28-year-old James Raymond of Auburn was indicted on two counts of transporting a minor in interstate commerce with intent to engage in sexual activity.
The indictment stems from two events in which Raymond traveled between Maine and New Hampshire with a minor in 2007, the same year he was charged while working as a music teacher at Park Avenue School in Auburn. It’s unclear if the new charges involve the same victim, or a new victim.
Raymond was arrested Friday. He faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
