ORONO – Elsie A. Cota, 97, wife of the late Raymond J. Cota Sr., died Sept. 26, 2009, at an Orono health care facility. She was born June 1, 1912, in Orono, the daughter of Ernest and Lillian (St. Peter) Nadeau. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono, and Daughters of Isabella for more than 61 years. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond J. and Julia Cota Jr. of Orono; one grandson, R. Joseph Cota III and his fiancee, Jennifer Hughes, of San Diego; one granddaughter, Amy and her husband, Joseph Michaud and great-grandson, Kolbe, all of Ridgefield, Wash.; four sisters, Mamie Seymour of Old Town, Pauline Butler of Orono, Bertha Henderson of Hartford, Conn., and Bernice Moreau of Dover, N.H.; one brother, Lawrence “Johnny” Nadeau of Orono; numerous nieces and nephews; a special niece, Marva Cote and her family; and special friends, Richard and Theresa Morrow and family, and Gertrude Thibodeau. She was predeceased by five brothers, Freeman, Albert, Leslie, Norman and Clarence Nadeau. The family thanks the staff and volunteers of all departments at Orono Commons, as well as Community Health and Counseling Services Hospice staff and volunteers for their kindness and loving care. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono.
