SWANVILLE – Thomas R. Burpee, 80, went to be with his heavenly Father Sept. 23, 2009, with his family by his side. He was born July 5, 1929, in Brownville, Vt., the son of Lockwood and Estella (Oakes) Burpee. Tom was a veteran of the Army and Air Force. Tom was an honorable man of great strength leaving a legacy for his family to carry on. Frequently and freely spoken from his heart was, “I love my family, I love my kids.” Tom is survived by his wife, Lorry Burpee of Swanville; his sons, David Burpee and his wife, Debi, of Orlando, Fla., John Burpee and his wife, Nancy, of Lincoln, Neb., and Thomas Burpee II and Sophie Whited of Swanville; his daughters, Judy Meuschke and her husband, Bob, of Grandview, Mo., Guylene Bean and her husband, Stephen, of Corinth, Missi Potter and her husband, Ed, of Holden, and Barbara Desso and Clem of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two sisters, Hattie Nason of Bangor and Elizabeth Small of Bucksport; five brothers, Earl and Mickey Burpee of Florida, Raymond Burpee of Benedicta, Lockwood Brown of Bucksport, and Ricky Jenkins of Brownville Junction; his first wife, Marie Burpee of Corinth; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Always in my heart, always on my mind.
