Members of the St. Croix International Quilters Guild are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.

With a membership of “about 40 ladies from Topsfield to Eastport and all points in between,” wrote Kathy Mekelburg, members from St. Stephen, New Brunswick, help put “the international in our name.”

The organization meets for a workshop at 6 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month at the Methodist Homes Recreation Center on Palmer Street in Calais, which means the next workshop is 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Calais.

You are invited to attend.

“Our meetings and workshops are open to the public,” Mekelburg wrote of what she describes as “a very busy, giving and fun-loving group” that would like you to join.

In addition to the monthly workshop, the group meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the first Saturday of each month for an all-day workshop and at 6:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month for a business meeting.

Among its activities are making quilts for Methodist Homes residents each Christmas; quilts for dialysis patients and “anti-ouch pouches” for breast cancer patients in New Brunswick and Maine, and quilts for Project Linus.

With raffles and auctions to benefit other organizations, the St. Croix International Quilters are busy as can be, and they invite you to call to learn more about what they do.
