NEWPORT – Muriel A. Shaw, 67, died peacefully Oct. 6, 2009, at a Pittsfield hospital after a short period of ill health. Muriel was born Oct. 17, 1941, in Newport, the daughter of Osvile F. and Florence (Garland) Elston. She was educated in Newport schools and was a graduate of Newport High School. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Harold L. Shaw Sr.; two sons, Harold L. Shaw Jr. and Steven F. Shaw; three daughters, Diana Merrill, Barbara Erving and Pamela Shaw; one brother, Donald Elston; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Russell Shaw. At Muriel’s request, all arrangements and services are private. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center is entrusted with the care of Muriel’s requests.
