ORRINGTON – Gary A. Doane, 71, passed away peacefully Oct. 8, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. Gary was born April 26, 1938, in Bangor, to the late Douglas and Beatrice Doane. Gary grew up and attended schools in Veazie. He worked for many years as a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor in the greater Bangor/Brewer area. Gary was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering for Mark Martin. Gary is survived by his wife, Judy A. Doane of Orrington; children, Michael A. Doane and wife, Denise, and Carol Long and husband, Tony, all of Eddington; grandchildren, Bobby Jordon of Sugarland, Texas, Brittany Long and fiance, Thomas Wood, of Bangor, and a special little grandson, Jessie Doane, whom Gary loved very much; two sisters, Gail Hatch and husband, Ronnie, of Hermon, and Debbie Lainsbury and husband, David, of Eddington; one brother, David Doane of Kenduskeag; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Gary will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Fairview Cemetery, State Street, Veazie, with Pastor Jon Ouellette of Lighthouse Church of God officiating.
