CARIBOU – LeLand D. Labbe, 87, died peacefully Oct. 14, 2009, at Eagle Lake Mercy Home. He was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Easton. LeLand served in the U.S. Army in World War II. LeLand’s career was with Bangor and Aroostook Railroad until his retirement in 1982, and had worked in most all Bangor and Aroostook stations in northern Aroostook County. LeLand was predeceased by his wife, Rosa, in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Amelia; 13 sons and daughters, Oneal, Theresa, Delores, Leo, Beatrice, Rosemarie, Paul, Lorraine, David, Daniel, Roland, Philip and Mary; four siblings, Vera, Joanne, Roland and Patrick; 35 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren. At the request of LeLand, there will be no funeral. Burial will be held 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at St. Agatha Catholic Cemetery. LeLand’s marker is inscribed, “See you in heaven.”
