DOVER-FOXCROFT – Marguerite L. Bonsey, 88, died peacefully Oct. 17, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born May 11, 1921, in Dover, daughter of George Ira “GI” and Florence (Averill) Lary. Marguerite married Manley Bonsey and they enjoyed many years of happiness. They had two children, Ernest Leroy and Sharon Averill. In 1964 she and Manley assumed the care of their grandson, Michael Wayne Bonsey. Marguerite attended Foxcroft Academy. After Manley returned from World War II, Marguerite went to work for many years at Brown’s Mills Woolen Co., Dover-Foxcroft, and the woolen mill in Old Town. After retiring from the mills, Marguerite and Manley established and ran Covered Bridge Restaurant, Guilford. She volunteered many hours at the Cerebral Palsy School, Bangor, both transporting and working with the students, including her grandson, Mike. Once Mike graduated from the Cerebral Palsy School, Marguerite settled in to being a homemaker. She spent many summers at her camp on Sebec Lake, where she especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren playing on and around the lake. She was predeceased by her infant brother; her parents; her husband, Manley; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She will be lovingly missed by her two children, Ernest Bonsey and his wife, Dian, and Sherry Blockler and her husband, Nate. She will be especially missed by her grandson, Mike Bonsey, who was very devoted to watching over his grandmother for many years. Marguerite was blessed with many other grandchildren: grandsons, Richard Blockler and his sons, Michael and Nathaniel, Gerald Blockler and his wife, Shelly and their sons, Matthew and Scott and his daughter, Brooklyn, and Daniel Blockler and his daughter, Morgan; granddaughters, Gayle Bonsey and friend, Jerry Durgin and her son, Tyler, Lorrie Blockler, Debra Hayes and her husband, Scott and their children, Jerod, Justin and Michaela, Pamela Richardson and her husband, Ken and their children, Kate and Jason, Melissa Ware and her husband, Doug and their children, Stephen, Christopher and Michelle Kearney and her husband, Scott and their children, Caitlin, Austin and Andrew, and Patricia Nutter and her husband, Derrick and their daughter, Haley. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft. Burial will be in the family lot at Dover Cemetery.
