LYNNFIELD, Mass. – Roberta H. Munce, 90, formerly of Bangor, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at her home. Born May 14, 1919, in New Bedford, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Ezra F. and Lena (Peck) Howland. Mrs. Munce was a longtime Bangor resident. She was a graduate of Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing, Fall River, Mass. During World War II she worked as a nurse at Eastern Maine General Hospital. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Bangor, and Bangor Junior League. She was also a member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Munce was the wife of the late Richard T. Munce, M.D. She was the mother of Deborah M. Bromby of Rowley, Mass., Susan M. Soucy of Winchester, Mass., Roberta M. Nelson of Lynnfield, Mass., and Maryann M. Giovino of East Walpole, Mass. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Munce was predeceased by her brother, Francis Howland. A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 16 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield, Mass., and interment was held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
