HUDSON and ETNA – Frederick “Freddy” George Marshall, 84, died Oct. 25, 2009, at a Waterville nursing home. He was born May 7, 1925, the son of Andrew and Mazie (Brown) Marshall. Freddy and his family lived for many years in Hudson, where he raised chickens and also worked for the State Highway Department, where he was known as “Shorty.” After retirement, he moved to Etna and enjoyed woodworking and helping his family. Freddy is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerald and Barbara of Corinna, Larry and Faye of Georgia, and Stephen of Bangor; a daughter, Althea Wypyszczak of Indiana; 10 grandchildren, Cheryl Shorey of Eddington, Shelley and Anthony Rudnicki of Fairfield, Gerald “Skip” Marshall of New Hampshire, Alisha and Dr. Rick Ames of Texas, Tiffany Young and her partner, Rob Poindexter, of St. Albans, Larry “Rocky” and Christina Marshall of Surry, Sgt. Scott and Cali Marshall of New York, Kim Lounder of Georgia, and Melissa Dupray of Millinocket; a brother, Ralph of Charleston; sisters, Pat Brunnele of New York, Jennie Chapman of Bangor, Edna Taylor of Florida and Mildred Brooks of Dover-Foxcroft; 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Althea (Adams) Marshall, in 1990; brothers, Andrew and Roy; and sisters, Leona, Mabel and Doris. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Burial will be at Hudson Cemetery.
