The University of Maine Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps invites you to a “family-friendly community” enchanted trick-or-trail fundraiser for Camp Capella, a summer camp on Phillips Lake in Dedham for children and adults with disabilities.
Matthew Palmer reports the Halloween event begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the UMaine Student Recreation Center in Orono.
Held in conjunction with the University of Maine vs. University of Massachusetts football game (which begins at 3:30 p.m. on campus) admission to the trick-or-trail is $5 for a family with one child and $7 for a family with two or more children.
The trail offers many theme treating spots, and will be overseen by members of University of Maine Public Safety, Palmer reports.
A costume contest and lots of fun await everyone who attends.

The 59th annual Old Town Rotary Club hunters breakfast will offer Tim Hortons coffee, pancakes, eggs, ham and hot chocolate from 4 to 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Riverfront Park.
Dave Wollstadt reports admission is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children 12 and under and $15 for families.
Among the door prizes are a .30-30 hunting rifle, a canoe or kayak from Old Town Canoe and a $50 gas card donated by Birmingham Market.

For $6 for adults and $3 for children 5 and up, you can get eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, biscuits, home fries, pancakes, french toast, coffee, tea and juice before you head into the woods or, perhaps, into the stores or to the shore.

Harris reports the fundraiser includes “a raffle and many door prizes” and he urges you to “come hungry.”

Monroe Community Church is hosting its Candy Cane Christmas Craft Fair 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the church on Route 139.
Bernys Doak reports crafts, knitted, sewn and crocheted items, and other works, will be displayed with “live and artificial Christmas trees,” and their Candy Cane Cafe will serve “sweets and coffee” until 11 a.m., when the cooks start serving up “soups and sandwiches for everyone.”
You’ll find that the Candy Cane Kitchen “is well-stocked with pies, fudge, cookies, breads, jams,” and you can take a chance on the Reindeer Raffle Tree.
The hosts also encourage you to “check us out,” Doak explained, with the realization and understanding that you “may go home with exciting ideas for your next church fair.”
Proceeds benefit the church’s general fund.

Director Becky Ames invites youngsters to enjoy a special Halloween story house, 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Simpson Memorial Library, 8 Plymouth Road in Carmel.
Children pre-kindergarten to age 6 should come dressed in costume “and plan to listen to Halloween stories, complete a Halloween craft and take home a treat,” Ames wrote.
