CHESHIRE, Conn. – Elizabeth “Betty” (MacNeil) Lentini, 82, died Oct. 30, 2009, after battling cancer. She was born March 4, 1927, in Bangor, daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret McNeil. She graduated from John Bapst High School, Bangor, and received a degree from LaSalle College, Auburndale, Mass., in 1947. Betty worked as a journalist at the Bangor Daily Commercial and then at the Waterbury Republican-American. She married Pomp Lentini, who survives her, on April 19, 1952, in Waterbury, Conn. They moved to Cheshire, Conn., in 1954 and lived in their home together for 55 years. She was a communicant of Church of the Epiphany. In addition to her husband, she leaves three sons, Vincent and Kathy Lentini, and Barth and Sandy Lentini, both of Cheshire, Conn., and Pomp of Waterbury, Conn.; two daughters, Nina and Richard Norman of Norwich, Conn., and Marianne Lentini-Bernarduci and Kent Bernarduci of Boynton Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, a stepgranddaughter, a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Catherine Fessenden and Margaret LaFontaine, both of Bangor and Sarah McNeil of Portland; a brother, Stephen McNeil of West Haven, Conn.; and 40-plus nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Rosemary in 1962 and Betsy in 1970. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Road, Cheshire, Conn., with burial at St. Bridget Cemetery, Cheshire, Conn.
