ORLAND – John G. Kennedy, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at his home. He was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Eastport, the son of Alice (Rome) and Cleveland H. Kennedy Sr. John attended school in Eastport, before completing his education in Bucksport in 1943. Prior to graduating from Bucksport High School, he attended the National Youth Association, Quoddy. John worked for the paper mill in the shipping department of the Bucksport mill until his retirement in 1983. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, a wonderful storyteller and talented woodcarver. John was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Katherine (Roi) Kennedy in 1992. He is survived by his two sisters, Kathleen Nickless and Virginia Nickless; and one brother, Cleveland H. Kennedy Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; his special friend, Cynthia Folsom and her children; and his beloved cat, Smokey. The family thanks Hancock County Homecare Hospice, Dr. S. Kumar Biswas, the staff at Bucksport Regional Health Center and all the numerous friends and family for their help and support. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
