PITTSFIELD – Pauline Bickford Bemis, 93, died Nov. 4, 2009, at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility where she had been a resident for several years. She was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Hermon, daughter of Benjamin and Harriet Bickford. She graduated from Hermon High School and Husson Business School, Bangor, now Husson University. For many years she was employed by Connecticut Bank and Trust, which later became Fleet Bank. She was an accomplished painter and ceramicist. For a number of years she was involved in volunteer work at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Pittsfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Manley C. Bemis. She is survived by her three children, Betty Allison of Wellfleet, Mass., Carlton Bemis of Waterville and Alan Bemis of Rochester, N.H.; one sister, Mary DeWitt of New Jersey; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. There are no public visitations.
