BELFAST – Althea M. Thomp-son, 75, died Nov. 11, 2009, at a local health care facility. She was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Belfast, the daughter of Roy and Louise (Jacobs) Whitney. She worked for many years locally in the shoe industry. She was a very active member of Faith Temple Church of God for many years. She loved singing and laughing, and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always there for her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Chandler Thompson Sr. in 1993. Survivors include her four children, Viola Noyes of Belfast, Gary Thompson and his wife, Julie McCue, of Georgia, Pauline Gallia of Limington and “Tom” Chandler J. Thompson Jr. and his fiancee, Barbara, of Searsport; a brother, Harold Whitney of Ashland; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with interment afterward at Smart Cemetery.
