BLUE HILL – Beverly Ann Bullard, 91, passed away Nov. 9, 2009, at a local nursing facility. Beverly was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Chicago, the daughter of Edward John Swanson and Agnes Elvira (Anderson) Swanson. Bev started work as a hairdresser after high school, later having her own beauty shop in Illinois. She was also a farm wife, a bookkeeper and office manager at Benjamin River Boatyard which she and her husband were part-owners of, a gift shop operator, and for many years, a teacher of traditional rug hooking. She was famous for her Swedish Limpa Rye Bread. Beverly was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Maurice Lucian Bullard Jr. in 1981; also her sister, Shirley Ruth McKeown in 1973. Surviving are her sons, Maurice Lucian Bullard III and wife, Charlene, of Ellsworth and James Edward Bullard and wife, Betty, of Pekin, Ill.; daughter, Shirley Lay and husband, James, of Blue Hill; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In accordance with Beverly’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Friends who wish may make a memorial offering to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital.
