ELLSWORTH – Alvin M. “Buddy” Staples, 86, died Nov. 13, 2009, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born May 5, 1923, in Ellsworth, the son of Harold J. and Annie (Mackenzie) Staples. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Post No. 109 of Ellsworth. He is survived by a sister, Evelyn Mason of Ellsworth; nephew, Randy Mason and wife, Holly, of Waltham; niece, Julie Mason of Ellsworth; great-nieces, Stephanie Harris and Jessica Mason; great-nephews, Timothy Mason, Joshua Mason and Brandon Pettengill; and a special great-great-nephew, Codey Pettengill. Buddy was predeceased by his wife, Levina; and a nephew, Wayne Mason. A sincere thank you goes to the staff at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, especially Christopher Nelson, P.A., and Jim Ashmore, R.N.
