OAKFIELD – Robert Norris Furrow, 72, passed peacefully Nov. 19, 2009, with his wife of 51 years, Donna, at his side, at home. He was born March 5, 1937, in Merrill, son of Ralph and Christine (Sholler) Furrow. Bob was a lifelong farmer of potatoes and dairy cows. He was a graduate of Merrill and Oakfield schools, served in the Army National Guard spanning 40 years as a commo and supply sergeant, and was a former selectman for the town of Merrill. Bob also worked many part-time jobs to supplement his farming income as a school bus driver, over the road and local trucker, and Boy Scout troop leader. His major interest was first and foremost his family, the great outdoors from fishing to hunting. Surviving are his wife, Donna (Bishop) Furrow; children, Michael N. and his wife, Suzette, of Bangor, Robert L. and his wife, Wendy, of Merrill, Linda Duff of Island Falls, Kristie M. and husband, Sam Riley, of Cambridge, Mass., and Matthew L. and Jill White of Merrill; grandchildren, Daniel and fiancee, Emily Hughes, Emily, Natasha, Trudy, Lilly, Matthew and Lucas; great-grandson, Aiden A.; very special cousin, Hubert Furrow of Merrill; two sisters, Janet Defelice and husband, Pat, and Ralphine Hyson and husband, Ronny; and a brother-in-law, Gary McGraw. He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Peggy. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Island Falls.
