PORTLAND, Maine — Authorities say a Cumberland County jail inmate was subdued with a Taser after he bit a corrections officer and refused to let go.
Sheriff Mark Dion said corrections Officer Mary Sorrells was taking 38-year-old Shawn McFarlin back to his cell after a court appearance Friday when he bit her.
Another officer used his Taser on McFarlin to make him stop biting.
McFarlin, who is from Indiana, was being held on theft charges.
