THORNDIKE – John “Tiny” Hutton passed away peacefully Nov. 21, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends, at his home. John served 20 years in the Navy Seabees and then worked 36 years for the State of Maine Department of Transportation. He was a Mason, Legionnaire and a member of the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars. He loved listening to and playing music with his many friends in Thorndike and Eastport. He was predeceased by his parents, John Jacob and Margaret (Calder) Hutton; his grandparents, Edgar B. and Thelma Calder; and his sister, Alice Flye. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jayne (Hubbard) Hutton; his daughters, Ernestine M. Keller and her husband, Kevin, Shannon Hutton and companion, John Szumita, and Kimberly J. Mealey; a brother, James E. Flye and his wife, Arlene; sisters, Colleen Cook and her husband, Michael, Laureen Clark and Kathleen Crockett and husband, Gerald, and Faylene Otis; aunt, Hilda Dinsmore; grandchildren, Michael, Aimee, Gary, Derek, Dylan, John Paul, Austin and Alyssa; numerous nieces and nephews; all his music friends and family; and his special feline companion, L.W. A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Unity Snow Dusters Club. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request donations in memory of John “Tiny” Hutton be made to the American Cancer Society and the Veterans’ Association. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
