MAPLETON – Kori S. Ellis, 43, fell asleep into her Lord and Savior’s care Nov. 24, 2009, due to a tragic car accident northwest of Caribou in New Sweden. She was born Oct. 5, 1966, in Presque Isle. As the beautiful, brilliant sun rises in the eastern sky, its light brings to life a world covered in darkness. Her laughter was like the breaking of the dawn; a new day arising filled with joy, love and hope. Her influence among family, friends, co-workers and throughout the community spread like the sun’s warming rays. Kori Sue Ellis was full of light and life. Kori had many gifts and talents. She used each one to bless those around her. In 2001, Kori founded Circle of Learning, a developmental preschool in Caribou. With a heart for the children of Aroostook County, she touched many lives through her sincere dedication. Kori held a master’s degree in special education, as well as being a licensed social worker. Kori was an active part of her church family. Her generosity was known by all. Her sweet voice was lifted up many Sunday mornings as part of State Road Advent Christian Church worship team. Great joy was found for Kori in her kitchen. She loved cooking for huge crowds of family, friends and co-workers. She was a wonderful cook, never letting anyone go hungry. Blessed with so many talents, yet Kori shone brightest being a mother. Kori’s deep love and commitment to her three daughters, Mariah Sue, 11, Skyler Hope, 9, and Calie Grace, 2, was evident in everything she did. Kori was prized and admired by her beloved husband, Jaye. They married June 15, 1985. Through life’s ebb and flow, Kori was often heard saying, “My God is bigger than that!” Kori personally knew the one who holds every tomorrow and eternity in his hand. Her strong faith in Christ was her light in life. She is survived by her husband, Jaye Ellis; their three daughters, Mariah Ellis, Skyler Ellis and Calie Ellis; as well as her mother and father, Kathari and Richard Findlen; sisters, Lori Whittemore and husband, Kevin Whittemore, and Tori Kirby; brother, John Allen and his friend, Paige Gagnon; nieces and nephews, Kelsey and Josh Presley, Ryan Cushman, Matthew, Aubrey and Caleb Whittemore, Jared and Olga Grant, Zachary Grant, Natasha and Kaylee Kirby, Chase Allen, Justin and Alec Gagnon; and a favorite uncle, Doug Goss. She was predeceased by her much loved nana, Eleanor Goss. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at State Road Advent Christian Church where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, with the Rev Gregg Moody officiating. Interment will be at Ellis-Trafton Cemetery, Ashland. Gifts in her memory may be made to Camp Nomaca or Northern Lights Youth Choir, P.O. Box 551, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home. Online condolences may be at www.duncan-graves.com.
