BANGOR – Claude W. Yorke, 98, went to be with his Lord Nov. 28, 2009, with his family around him, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born May 20, 1911, in Victoria Corner, New Brunswick, the son of Percy and Alma (Tilley) York. Claude served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 17th Finance Disbursing Section. After serving he studied radio and interior decorating. He owned apartment buildings in Boston and Lakeworth, Fla., which he found to be his passion. Above all, he was a devoted brother to his family and extended family. Claude is survived by one sister, Annabelle Lynds; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Ralph and Charlie York; and two sisters, Neta York and Gladys Elliott. Friends may call noon until the time of service 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Lorne York officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
