PORTLAND, Maine — Josh McAuliffe, of Bangor, defeated Keith Derrig by a three-round decision in the Light Heavyweight open division at the USA New England Boxing Championships held Saturday at Stevens Armory.
With the New England title, McAuliffe advanced to a regional competition, which will be held in May.
Other winners from Maine in the New England matches were Dalton McGovern of Skowhegan, who won a three-round decision over Paul Balestier in the Welter/Lightweight novice division, and Joel Bishop of Bingham who earned a three-round decision over Owen Kiernan in the Heavyweight novice division.
