NORRIDGEWOCK and PITTSFIELD – Robert N. Marcia II, 51, died Nov. 28, 2009, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born March 23, 1958, in Bangor, a son of Robert and J. Julia (Hinton) Marcia. Rob graduated from Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield, Class of 1978. He was previously employed at Scott Paper Mill, Skowhegan. He was a founder of Wheelchair Sports Association of Maine and played wheelchair basketball with the Maine Wheelers. An avid sports enthusiast, he also coached basketball at grade school and high school levels. He was a member of Elks Lodge, Skowhegan, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his mother of Pittsfield; a daughter, Amber Marcia and fianc?, Chris Smart and their son, Christopher Robert Smart, all of Norridgewock; two sisters, Penny Dana of Pittsfield and Susie and husband, Ken MacDonald, of Bowdoinham; many nieces and nephews; as well as many friends. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Marcia Sr., July 6, 2008. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Canaan Community Church, Route 2, Canaan, with Pastor Gary York officiating. Graveside committal services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Wheelchair Sports Association of Maine, care of Kirk McGowan, 16 Chestnut St., Skowhegan, ME 04976.
