ROCKPORT – Edith Charlotte Albert Beale, “Oma,” 78, died Nov. 30, 2009, at Quarry Hill, Camden, after a brief period of ill health. She was born April 12, 1931, in Heilbronn, Germany, the daughter of Heinrich and Bertha Sophie Walz Albert. Edith owned and operated The Ledges Motel, Glen Cove, for 46 years, until the time of her passing. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 2005. Edith is survived by her sons, Howard Beale of Glen Cove and his partner, Karen Farrar Ledger, and Mark Beale and his partner, Veronica “Roni” Battersby, of Saco; brother, Henry Albert and his wife, Sandra, of Dominican Republic; two granddaughters, Jamie Beale Pasquini and her husband, Mike and son, Luca, of Clearwater, Fla., and Janessa Beale of Portland; brother-in-law, William and his wife, Cynthia, of Mendon, Mass.; special adopted granddaughter, Andi Watts and her husband, Tim and son, Timmy, of Rockland; as well as nieces, nephews, many loved friends and employees. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
