HODGDON – Anna Belle (Emery) Fast, 82, passed away Dec. 5, 2009, at Houlton Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1927, near Mildred, Minn., the daughter of Leonard and Edna (Hill) Emery. She was a 1945 graduate of Pine River High School in Minnesota and attended Northwestern College, St. Paul, Minn. Anna Belle graduated from Grace Bible Institute of Omaha, Neb., in 1950. On Aug. 22, 1948, she was united in marriage to Sam A. Fast at Mildred Bible Chapel. Sam and Anna Belle were missionaries for many years to Native American tribes in Minnesota, Utah, Arizona and New Brunswick, Canada. She was a Postmaster in Ponemah, Minn. In Houlton, Anna Belle worked at local stores giving samples out and demonstrating new products. She enjoyed meeting people. She was a member of East Hodgdon Bible Church and became a resident of Madigan Estates in January 2007. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Sam Fast; three daughters, Judith Hamer and her husband, William, of Scotia, Neb., Lorelle Parkes and her husband, Steve, of Ontario, Calif., and Sheryl Duff and her husband, Melvin, of Hodgdon; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald Emery and his wife, Mabel, of Bemidji, Minn., and Ronald Emery and his wife, Betty, of Seattle. She was predeceased by her parents; and four brothers, Lawrence, Orville, Dwight and Clifford. Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Juris officiating. Interment will be held at East Hodgdon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to East Hodgdon Bible Church or Greater Houlton Christian Academy, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O.
