BANGOR – Betty and Harold Frazell are once again united together. Betty went to be with her earthly companion of more than 50 years in their “Home beyond the river” Dec. 13, 2009. Heaven is rejoicing today as a faithful and worthy servant has found her peace and comfort in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Betty Jean Frazell, aka “The Pie Lady,” was born April 18, 1930, in Fairbury, Neb. Being married to a career Air Force man kept Betty on the go as she faithfully followed her husband’s journey across America and even to Japan, where she gave birth to their first child. Betty willingly and without hesitation stood beside her husband’s devotion to serve our country, no matter where or when he was called. Betty and Harold were the corner stones in the origin of Bangor Baptist Church in 1963 and later the start of Bangor Christian School in 1970. Betty and Harold were the pillars of the church’s choir and would frequently sing duets at Sunday services. Known to many as the “Greatest pie maker ever,” Betty found joy in simply sharing her pies with others and watching the pleasure they brought. No one could make a pie like Betty. She was known to make up to 30 pies to be given out at each D.A.R.E. graduation for 13 years. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, caring grandmother and a very proud great-grandmother. She wanted and always loved to hear her great-grandchildren refer to her as “Old Nana.” She is survived by her two children: her daughter, Sue Tracy and her husband, David, of Ellsworth; and her son, Daniel Frazell and his wife, Karen, of Orrington; her grandchildren, Robert Childers and his girlfriend, Kaite Damp, of Ellsworth, Justin Frazell and his wife, Lisa, of Hampden, Brian Frazell of Ellsworth, Jeff Tracy and his wife, Michelle, of Milbridge, Brad Tracy and his wife, Tasha, of Ellsworth, Nicholas and Jennifer Wainer of Orrington; and her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Caitlin Childers, Alyx Frazell, Miya Tracy, Shyann Tracy and Gavin Morse. A wake will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Bangor Baptist Church, outer Broadway, Bangor. Funeral services will be held immediately after the service beginning 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send donations on behalf of Betty to a cause that she dearly supported: the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
