BANGOR – Roger W. Overlock Sr., 90, of Levant, formerly of Winslow, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009. He was born March 4, 1919, in Freedom, the son of Walter and Lucy Overlock. After his schooling, Roger went on to become a mechanical engineer for the U.S. Navy. He then took a job for Exxon Oil Co. traveling all around the world to see and experience great things, later retiring from his work at the Maine Department of Transportation. Roger enjoyed his time traveling with his wife, and watching their nightly shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Roger was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Lorraine Overlock; his parents, Walter and Lucy Overlock; son, Roger Overlock Jr.; two brothers, Kenneth and Earl Overlock; and sister, Eva Rogers. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Julia Bendure Overlock; his son, Alexander Overlock and wife, Veronica, of Winslow; granddaughters, Sarah Overlock, Tiffany Carrigan and Lekha Overlock; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Overlock and RaeLeigh Starkey; niece, Barbara and husband, Milton, of East Vassalboro; and Julia’s children, Richard Bendure and wife, Becky, of Bangor, Julianna Smith and husband, David, of Hampden and Raymond Bendure and wife, Heather, of Orrington. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. A committal service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mount Vernon Chapel, Augusta.
