MACHIASPORT – Herbert “Junie” Wood Jr., 61, beloved husband and father, died Dec. 18, 2009, surrounded by his loving wife and family at his home, after an extended illness. He was born March 24, 1948, in Machiasport, the son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth Wood Sr. Herbert was a lifelong resident of Machiasport and worked as a lobster fisherman. He loved hunting and spending time at his camp in Wesley with his son, Craig; and friends. Herbert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elaine; one son, Craig Wood Sr. and his wife, Brenda; one daughter, Lynn Connolly and her husband, Dennis; three grandchildren, Craig Wood Jr., Brooke Wood and Fiona Connolly; one brother, Barry Wood Sr. and his wife, Jolene; two sisters, Cheryl Wright and her husband, Milton, and Donna Williamson and her husband, Bruce; in-laws, Adian and Edna Preston, Marlene and Karl Hall, Ivory “Fuzzy” and Valerie Preston, Martin Preston and their families; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and sternman, Joey. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his twin grandsons, Shea and Riley Connolly. He will be sadly missed by his special friends including, Wade, Owen, Dallas, Randy and Mike; and all of his coffee buddies. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Court Street, Machias.
