BANGOR – Adah (Goodine) Newhall, 77, died Dec. 19, 2009, at a Bangor health care center, after a long illness. She was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Bangor, the daughter of Blanchard and Thelma (Knowles) Goodine. Adah was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1950, and was employed at Boyd and Noyes Jewelers, Bangor, for 30 years. She was a Girl Scout leader for a number of years. Adah was a member of All Souls Congregational Church since 1963, a member of the Patawa Club, Bangor, and the Saturday Nighters. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Donald R. Newhall; two daughters, Susan N. Wellman and Penny N. Bush, all of Bangor; four grandchildren, Sarah Wellman, Breanna Ashton, Charles Bush IV and Lindsay Wellman; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Adah; one brother, Charles Goodine of Madison, Conn.; a stepbrother, Lyndell Matot of Eddington; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Goodine; and one sister, Annalee Makin. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, with the Rev. Dr. James L. Haddix, pastor and teacher at All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
