BANGOR and LONG ISLAND, N.Y. – Virginia Ann Andrews passed away peacefully Dec. 21, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. Virginia was a resident of Sunbury Village, Bangor. She was born July 5, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Harry and Anna Morschhauser. She married her longtime sweetheart, Augustine Andrews, Jan. 21, 1951. She was employed by Lever Brothers, Grandview Dairy and later Northport School District, and enjoyed being a successful career woman. She is survived by her children, Virginia Alster and her partner, Gary Ellwanger, and Victor Andrews and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Cody Andrews, Michelle Alster, Chelsea Andrews and Max Andrews; and her brother, Harold Morschhauser and his wife, Anne. Virginia believed in the value of education and took great pleasure in helping her children, and later her grandchildren, succeed in their academic endeavors. Thank you to Dr. Forbush and all those at St. Joseph’s who cared for her in her last days. She spoke her mind, and enjoyed her life, family, friends and a well-made cocktail. She will be greatly missed by us all. A memorial service will be held at a date and time to be announced at Sunbury Village. A Mass will be held Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Philip Neri RC Church, Long Island, N.Y. Interment will be at Calverton National Memorial Cemetery. Local arrangements by Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
