SWANVILLE, Maine — Three people were arrested Wednesday on drug charges after a police search of a home on Bings Boulevard.
The 9:30 a.m. raid at the home of Arthur Stevens uncovered more than 3 pounds of marijuana, 500 prescription pills, cocaine, scales and more than $26,000 in cash.
Stevens, 53, was charged with four counts of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and later was released from the Waldo County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Alden Brown, 56, of Jackson and Danielle White, 37, of Belfast also were arrested. Brown was charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and two counts of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. He was released on $1,000 bail.
White was charged with two counts of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. She was released on $1,000 bail.
Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department said the search and subsequent arrests were part of an investigation involving the sheriff’s office and the Searsport Police Department. The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Maine State Police were present when the warrant was executed.
“This investigation has been ongoing for some time and is still ongoing,” Trundy said Wednesday. “It’s always great when all of our agencies are working together, especially when the results are this.”
Trundy said he had seen larger quantities of drugs in previous investigations in the county but could not recall officers finding as much cash, most of which was in $100, $50 and $20 bills.
“In this type of case, we expect to find some money but it was a little bit of a surprise to find that much,” he said. “In the years that I have been here, that’s the largest amount of cash that I have seen.”
