EAGLE LAKE – Doris J. Nadeau, longtime resident of Camp Springs/Fort Washington, Md., and Eagle Lake, died Dec. 23, 2009, during a stay in Millsboro, Del. She was predeceased in 1997 by her husband of more than 40 years, Richard J. Nadeau. She is survived by brother, Robert Cross; offspring, Linda, Richard, Diane, Denise, Patrick and Cindy Nadeau, their spouses and significant others; grandchildren, Jessica (Allison) Ferrer, Richard Nadeau III, Danielle Nadeau, Amy Allison, Eli and Samuel Berggren; great-granddaughter, Evangeline Ferrer; and many extended family members. Born to Robert R. Cross and Josephine (Owens) Cross in February 1933, Doris was a member of Calvin Coolidge High School, Class of 1951. In addition to her duties as wife and mother of six, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Cafritz Memorial Hospital and as a school bus driver in Prince Georges County, Md., for many years. She somehow made time to be the hub of her extended family, hosting family and friends in celebrations and holidays with her renowned tasty spreads and infectious laughter. She enjoyed good company, good food and lively music, as well as the beauty and drama of nature just outside her kitchen window in Eagle Lake. Many thanks to family friend Dale Pelletier, whose unselfish help made living in Maine possible for her during the last several years. A memorial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Grace Methodist Church, 330 Church St., Millsboro, Del. An interment is planned for early July in Wallagrass. Memories, stories and thoughts about Doris may be shared by mail, care of L. Nadeau, P.O. Box 415, Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
