LEWISTON and BANGOR – Genevieve R. Marcus, 96, wife of the late Bernard Marcus, passed away Dec. 31, 2009, at a Lewiston nursing facility. She was born Nov. 14, 1913, in Bangor, daughter of the late Alvah G. and Annie (Shannon) Robinson. Genevieve was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1931. She married Bernard Marcus and was employed at Dow Air Force Base for 21 years until its closing. She went on to work for Lewiston Raceway until its closing and worked for many of the fairs throughout the state for more than 20 years. Genevieve was a former member of the U.S. Trotting Association and the Maine Harness Racing Association. Genevieve is survived by her son, James R. Marcus; nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul the Apostle Parish St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor.
