ORONO – Richard S. Woods, 69, died Jan. 6, 2010, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. He was born May 24, 1940, in Old Town, a son of Sylvester C. and Ethel (LeClair) Woods. Richard had been a resident of Treat Falls House since its opening in 1980 and enjoyed attending Bocheau Center for Learning, Bangor. Richard loved classical music, roughhousing and wrestling, going to the concerts in the park during the summer, attending concerts at the University of Maine, and going to the movies. He will be remembered for his laughter and great sense of humor. He loved to eat, especially chocolate. He enjoyed going to visit friends and family and having visitors come to Treat Falls. He really enjoyed his years at Treat Falls and the wonderful care and compassion shown to him by all staff members. He is survived by a sister, Connie Mansur of Stillwater; a brother, John Woods of Old Town; a special niece, Shelia Mansur of Stillwater; nieces and nephews, Tootie Mansur of Stillwater, Michelle Spencer and her husband, Scott, of Milford, Scott Mansur and his wife, Brenda Gallant, of Greenbush, Terry Mansur of Bangor, Becca Woods, and Norman Woods, both of Augusta; several great-nieces and great-nephews; an uncle, Sonny LeClair and his wife, Joan, of Augusta; special friends and caregivers, Sandy Rodriguez of Bangor and Donna Ouellette of Arizona. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Michael and George Woods; nephews, James Mansur; and a brother-in-law, Charles Mansur. Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday. Immediately after the service, all are invited to Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to Treat Falls House, 2 Hillside Ave., Orono, ME 04473. Spring interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town.
