STILLWATER – William “Bill” Harriman, 88, husband of Ethel (McLain) Harriman, died Jan. 7, 2010, in Bangor. He was born June 27, 1921, in Stillwater, the son of the late William F. and Ruby (Yerxa) Harriman. He attended Old Town schools and graduated from Calais Academy, Class of 1939. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps with the 390th Bomb Group H of the 8th Air Force in Europe, as a radio operator gunner. Awards received include, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Presidential Unit Citation. He was employed with REA Express for 27 1/2 years and retired in 1982 from Maine Central Railroad after 5 1/2 years. Bill was an active member of Federated Church of Stillwater and I.O.O.F. Lodge of Old Town. He and Ethel delivered Meals for ME for numerous years and they enjoyed camping with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ethel; son, Chester and his wife, Judy and their children, Michelle, Terri and Shannon; son, Robert and wife, Elizabeth and their sons, Aaron and Scott; daughter, Pamela and husband, Roger Sirois and their children, Cherilyn and Shane; daughter, Jodie and husband, Ernest Clark and her children, Brandon and Tyler Kingsbury; daughter, Jackie and husband, Jeff Bierman and her sons, Corey and Michael Nickerson and his sons, Scott and Seth; six great-grandchildren, Colby, Owen, Ryan, Madison, Collin and Kyle; one sister, Patricia and husband, Cliff McReavy, of New York; sisters-in-law, Mildred and Ruth Harriman; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Arthur, Carleton and Wesley; sister, Ruth Chase; and grandchildren, Gail and Ryan. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Stillwater Federated Church, Bennoch Road, Stillwater, with a reception immediately after.
