NOBLEBORO – Wayne Leroy Brown, 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jan. 10, 2010, after battling lung disease. He was born May 18, 1940, in Damariscotta, a son of the late Thelma Harriman and Leroy Brown. He grew up in Nobleboro and graduated from Waldoboro High School, Class of 1958, when he joined the family farm to work with his dad, Leroy. He married Dorcelle Barrington, May 14, 1960, and they made the family farm their home. It was on the family farm that they raised their five children. Their sons, Buddy and Lester; and grandson, Zachery, now run the homestead. Wayne loved working on the farm and the day before being admitted into the hospital, he could be seen plowing the snow. In 1980, Wayne was one of the original founding fathers of Coastal Christian School. Recently he helped start the jail ministry in Knox County. He had been a member of Gideon’s International since 1966 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Waldoboro where he shared the Lord’s work with others and helped many other people along the way. Above all, Wayne will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his second great-grandchild. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Dorcelle Brown of Nobleboro; sons, Buddy Brown and his wife, Kim, of Nobleboro, Adney Brown and wife, Penny, of Roseville, Mich., Lester Brown and his wife, Lisa, of Nobleboro, and Glen Brown and his wife, Trina, of Waldoboro; daughter, Jeanne Ward and her husband, Andrew, of Bridgton; sister, Brenda Hilton and her husband, John, of Newcastle; grandsons, Benjamin Brown and his wife, Nicole, of Nobleboro, Zachery Brown and his wife, Melissa, of Nobleboro, Dustin, Mason and Garrett Brown of Roseville, Mich., Christopher and Dakota Brown of Nobleboro; granddaughters, Lydia and Jasmine Brown of Nobleboro, and Brittney Brown, of Waldoboro; and great-grandson, Jayden Brown of Nobleboro.
