CARIBOU – Paul L. Caron, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, surrounded by his family at Cary Medical Center after a long illness. Paul was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Caribou, to George and Annie (Dubay) Caron. Paul attended Caribou schools and left school early to go to work in the woods to help support his family. He joined the Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1944. He was proud to have served his country. On Oct. 26, 1944, he married Irene Michaud. He worked for several area farmers before going to work for Cyr Construction, where he retired after 44 years of employment as a carpenter and construction supervisor. He will be remembered for having been involved in the construction of many commercial buildings in the Caribou and Presque Isle area. In retirement Paul enjoyed gardening and helping his family with building projects. He resided at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou, for the past year. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Irene Caron; their children, Dana and wife, Beverly, of Caribou, and Glen and wife, Myra, of Scarborough. He is also survived by two brothers, George of Avon, Conn., and Richard of Plainville, Conn.; five sisters, Corinna Chamberlain of Canton, Conn., Marie Dunleavy of Farmington, Conn., Dorothy Dlubac of Bristol, Conn., Jeanette Granger of Plainville, Conn, and Doris Desjardin of Lawrenceville, Ga.; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Aubrey, Milton, Herman and Gilman; two sisters, Irene Kacyznski and Laurina Haines; and a great-grandson. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Spring interment will take place at Old Holy Rosary Cemetery.
