WINTERVILLE – Peter William Myshrall, 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, surrounded by his family at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 2, 1937, in Washburn, the son of Henry and Marguerite (McCarthy) Myshrall. Peter served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lake Champlain, which he was extremely proud of. He worked many years for Great Northern Paper Co. at their mill in Portage, building roads, driving truck and as a night watchman. He was also a cabinetmaker and loved working in the woods cutting pulp and firewood. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and special friend to many people. He was well known for his terrific sense of humor, his unique nicknames, his willingness to help out, and especially for baking bread, doughnuts and other goodies for many people. He loved his family and worked very hard to provide for them. His door was open for anyone in need and he would lend a hand wherever it was needed. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy (Tardie) Myshrall; four children, whom he was extremely proud of, Sheila Myshrall and Diane Lachance of Alfred, Dennis Myshrall of Winterville, Patti Smart and husband, Daniel, of Machias and Gail Myshrall and Marie Smith of Harrington; five wonderful, special grandchildren, whom he had nicknames for, Joshua “Tiger-man,” Mary “Sugar,” Nicholas “Smiley,” Josh “My Boy” and Erin “My Sweetie”; one sister, Avis (Myshrall) Holcomb and husband, Dan, of North Muskegan, Mich.; a very special niece, Donna Rae Foote and her husband, Donald, of Washburn; three special brothers-in-law, Clayton Tardie and his wife, Pauline, Rod Tardie and his wife, Ann, and Elden Tardie and his wife, Marie; many other special nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Henry Jr., John, Jake, Elmer, Freeman, Wendell and Patrick; and his sisters, Lillian, Ora, Martina and Elva. An extra special thank you to all the Veterans Affairs doctors who took care of him, as well as the incredible care, prayers, love and support given to him and our family from the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake, with a luncheon afterward in the parish center provided by the Ladies of St. Anne. A spring internment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eagle Lake. Arrangements provided by Dolby Funeral Chapels of Windham, with a special thanks to Michael Chapman.
