EAST ORLAND – Mary L. Ginn died Jan. 28, 2010. Born April 21, 1918, to Thomas and Hittie Pickering, she was affectionately known in town as the “mitten lady” for her practice of handing out mittens she had knit for Halloween. She will be sadly missed by her surviving family: one sister, Virginia Gross of Bucksport; one daughter, Pauline Clement of East Orland; five grandchildren, Audrey and Wilford Atwood of East Orland, Kenneth Murray of New Hampshire, Jeffrey Clement of Penobscot, Julie Murray of Auburn, Andrea and John Young of Bangor; son-in-law, Kenneth Murray; as well as her four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Eugene S. Ginn; her daughter, Margaret Murray; two brothers, Herbert and Frank Pickering; two sisters, Dora Lord and Martha Gracie; and son-in-law, Lawrence Clement. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bucksport Bay Friends.
