AUGUSTA, Maine — Most Maine state workers have a four-day weekend because of a shutdown day to help the government save money.

Tuesday’s closure of most state offices, combined with the President’s Day holiday on Monday, gives thousands of state employees a four-day weekend.

Tuesday’s shutdown day is the seventh since July. In all, 23 closure days are scheduled through June 2011. The next shutdown day is March 12.
