FORT KENT – Blanche (Pelletier) Babin, 87, died March 1, 2010, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Bouchard) Pelletier. Blanche had planted a garden up until age 82. She also enjoyed knitting, and making blankets and baby sweaters. She loved to have people come to her house. Her greatest joy was having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to her house so she could cook for them. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Nelson Babin of Fort Kent, Gilman Babin and his wife, Robertine, of Fort Kent, Gilmay MaHaney of Fort Kent, Louella Reichert of Plainville Conn., Carline Foster and her husband, William, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Joel Babin of Fort Kent, Marlene Thibodeau of Greenville, S.C., Allen Babin of Wellington, Conn., and Michael Babin of Plainville, Conn.; three brothers, Clarence Pelletier of Fort Fairfield, Elmer Pelletier of Hudson, Fla., and Gerald Pelletier of Springfield, Mass.; three sisters, Jeanet Corriveau of Plainville, Conn., Alma Thompson of Saginaw, Mich., and Annette Berube of Bristol, Conn.; 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Adrien Babin, in 1978; one daughter, Joyce Newman; and four grandchildren. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, and 10 a.m. until time of services Friday, March 5, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated noon Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be at the parish cemetery.
