HOUSTON, Texas, and BAR HARBOR – Lawrence Durlin McFarland, 76, died unexpectedly Feb. 28, 2010, in Houston, Texas. He was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Bar Harbor, the son of Pearl and Gladys “Lunt” McFarland. He graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1954. Lawrence worked for Acadia National Park for many years. He then worked around the country, settling in Houston, Texas, working on platforms for oilrigs. While in Houston, Texas, he attended Cleveland Baptist Church. He enjoyed drawing landscapes and houses. He is survived by his brother, Roy McFarland and his wife, Jacqueline, of Bar Harbor; several nieces and nephews.
