BUCKSPORT – Shirley H. Brace, 61, quietly passed Feb. 25, 2010, from this world into her beloved heaven, while her husband, Thomas L. Brace; her daughter, Cindy Austin of West Sumner; and son, Doug Barbato of Mechanic Falls, were at her side at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1948, in Cambridge, Mass., a daughter of the late Gladys and Melvin Haines of Naples. Shirley was a longterm resident of Harrison, where she was the town bookkeeper. She had also worked in the accounting offices of Hancock Lumber, Casco; and Oxford Networks, Buckfield; and was proprietor of a Christian bookstore in Harrison. Shirley and Tom met in Portland while they were employed by Waste Management, in 1986. They were married Aug. 2, 1987, on the slopes of what was then Pleasant Mountain ski area. She and her husband were living in Bucksport, where they operated a small business. Shirley graduated from Waltham High School in 1967 before earning her associate degree in para-accounting from Bentley College, Waltham, Mass. Surviving are her husband, daughter, son, four grandsons, two stepdaughters and three stepgrandchildren. Visiting hours will be held 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Hall Funeral Home, 165 Quaker Ridge Road, Casco, with a celebration of life service 5:30-6 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hallfuneralhomeinc.com.
